And for it i will adorn you with more wonderful pubs :) I've been a busy bee! I also went for a shit-pub crawl with my parents and their friends at the weekend, got a lot of interesting information, sketches, and photos. Will upload images of what i gathered next! (bare in mind i ws having a drink in each pub, so the concentration to detail and why i was actually doing the pub crawl kind of went out the window towards the end) Had loads of fun though and i'm going to do it again next weekend to get more information from the pubs i didnt make it to/ didnt get much from.

Rugby Pub Crawl
SO after a lot of procrastination i have finally started my Summer Live project for Berlitz. We have to come up of a way of creating a hybrid of language and travel based on a place of choice, to make the perfect travellers guide. I have chosen my lovely home town of (D)Rugby. To begin with i felt so uninspired as i don't feel like anyone would want to come here on there travels but i went on a gander with my mum today and we noticed just how many pubs there are in Rugby. My mum says that a long time ago we were known to be the town with the most pubs per square metre or something ridiculous like that. So i thought, what better thing to do than design a travellers pub crawl around Rugby! I'm going to map out the pubs, go to each one and listen to the local language, observe the local punters, and then put together a sort of walk for a traveller to enjoy. From pub to pub i will pick out local beauty from the old buildings to the smiles from the market for a traveller to absorb and HOPEFULLY create something innovative and inspiring. Heres my first illy of the good ol' Prince of Wales. Yummy...
Wedding Bells

I have just completed this for my friends Beck and Jim (of whom i did a portrait of for Becks birthday) to give to Jim's sister as a wedding present. It took me a fair while as i kept coming back to it but i am pleased with the result. I chose a light background of pastel pink and tealy blue to match the colours they are having for their wedding, and i also put a rose in her hair as they are the flowers she will be having. Completed with a mechanical pencil and ProMarkers.

need to get crackin'
Due to the immense amount of collage i was doing for my fmp, it meant missing out on practicing my drawing for a while. Needed to get my creative juices flowing for the two summer projects we've been give to decided to kick off with a drawing for of my friend Lucy, and a birthday card for Tash. Not much but feels good to be drawing again.

Zine

My friend is creating a Zine with a group of people for her second year project at Nottingham Trent and asked me to come up with an idea for the cover. The idea behind the zine is what inventions would make the world a better place, including some bizarre ideas like glow in the dark food. Heres my interpretation of a suitable cover. Was fun playing with circles!

mock up design

So, for my final major I am creating montages of photos from the late 1950s. I found an album at a flea market in Berlin of a german family and their trips around Germany and really wanted to use them. I then decided I wanted to combine these with English photos from around the same era and produce a set of newly constructed photographs. I like the idea that this 'coming together' of English and German families would never of happened at this time due to WW2, so I think it's a really lovely concept. This is a rough idea of how I am going to approach the task of combining the two - scanning the photos in and layering on photoshop, then hand drawing in certain bits to fill in the gaps. I want to then print them out so they have the same format as a normal photo, and then produce an album to display them all in :) 6 weeks to do it...wish me luck!

Kingston Fashion Show 2011, my exhibition!
So I had my exhibition last night at The Market House in Kingston. It was such a lovely evening with other fashion designers and artists present, and lots of free champagne and nibbly bits! I met some lovely people, and someone even bought one of my location drawings. At the end of the night they put me into a free prize draw to draw a portrait for someone so i am very much looking forward to that. All proceeds went to charity so it was great to do something for a good cause and get my work out there.
